Policy and Basic Approach

Continuing these business activities requires a safe, healthy and comfortable workplace environment in which our executives and other employees, including those at Group companies, can work in safety and security. Our people are among our most important assets.

The Group will work collectively on concrete measures to eliminate accidents and occupational injuries across the Group, and to make the safety and health promotion activities each company carries out more effective.

The Group places importance on compliance and consideration for the global environment, with our overall goal to contribute to society, earn its trust, and become a sustainable and superior company. In accordance with Guiding Principle of Health and Safety and Health and Safety Guidelines set out below, we will strive to eliminate accidents and occupational injuries, reduce workplace environmental risks, share work-related accident information promptly, and promote safety and health education, creating an even safer and more comfortable workplace environment.

Guiding Principle of Health and Safety

All executives and employees at Metal One Corporation and our Group affiliates will carry out safety and health efforts designed to ensure safe, healthy, comfortable working environments where personnel can feel secure as they work.

Health and Safety Guidelines

We will comply with all laws and regulations related to safety and health, other relevant laws, and our corporate rules.
We will maintain organizations to supervise safety and health, and augment them to ensure that we are making effective efforts related to safety and health.
We endeavor to ensure that all Group employees, subcontractors and other relevant personnel know about and understand our Group Health and Safety Guidelines.
We promote good communication, such as promptly sharing information about work-related accidents that occur within the Group, and roll out measures to prevent recurrences and occurrences of similar accidents.
We regularly conduct the training required to ensure the safety and health of all employees.

Safety and Health Management Structure

Metal One has established an occupational safety and health management system to promote corporate activities that place the highest priority on employee safety and health. This system covers Metal One as well as its Group companies. Metal One also established the Safety & Health and Non-Conforming Material Delivery Committee as a body to advise the chief compliance officer. This committee discusses priority issues that the Group as a whole should address in the area of occupational safety and health, and also promotes improvement activities. In addition, it continuously shares information and discussions for improvement throughout the Group. By sharing information on work-related accidents, injuries and illnesses and examples of initiatives that Group companies pursue, we are upgrading safety and health standards across the Group’s wide range of business operations.

Initiatives

Safety and Health Education

The Metal One Group regularly rolls out the following educational programs and awareness initiatives as a way to maintain and improve employee knowledge of safety and health.

Pre-Assignment Training

Employees assigned to operating companies in Japan and overseas receive training in the basic knowledge needed for safe operations, how to respond in the event of industrial accidents, and the fundamental mindset required for these situations. The goal is to help them develop the qualities needed to foster the creation of safe and healthy workplace environments and eliminate work-related accidents and illnesses.

New Employee Training

As part of pre-assignment training, new employees are taught basic safety and health knowledge and given a practical, fact-based overview of safety and health conditions.

The training includes opportunities such as a VR-based hazard simulation program that allows participants to experience the risks of work-related accidents more directly. Through these efforts, Metal One instills safety awareness from an early stage, starting at the beginning of every employee’s career.

Advanced Lifesaving Training

Metal One conducts the Tokyo Fire Department’s advanced lifesaving training every year as part of our emergency response drills. Participants learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation using mannequins, how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator), first aid for injuries, and transport methods. Individuals who pass both the practical and written examinations receive an advanced lifesaving skills certificate. In Osaka as well, the Osaka Branch and Group companies conduct both advanced and standard lifesaving training, strengthening our emergency response capabilities across regional locations.

Measures to Raise Safety and Health Awareness

As part of our safety and health improvement measures, Metal One produced posters and videos of the Metal One Group Safety Declaration featuring the president and distributed them to Metal One’s domestic and overseas locations and Group companies. In addition, through a range of initiatives that include sharing digital manga on the theme of safety with Group companies and providing e-learning on safety and health, we continue our drive to foster a “Safety Is Our Top Priority” culture.

Safety Audit

Metal One conducts safety audit for Group companies in Japan and overseas. We engage external experts to confirm the development and operation of safety management systems through individual interviews. The goal of site inspections is to work together to identify fundamental issues that may be hard for the auditee to recognize on its own, transforming people’s awareness and behavior regarding safety and building a lasting culture of safety.
