Efforts for Health ManagementHealth and Productivity Management Initiatives

The Metal One Group considers the personal strengths of all our employees to be the collective source of the company’s competitiveness. Health management is a key theme when it comes to maximizing employees’ capabilities in each workplace. As such, we are pursuing various health and productivity management initiatives as we strive to create workplaces where all employees can work enthusiastically and in good mental and physical health.

Our Management Declaration on Health and Productivity

Metal One set forth the Management Declaration on Health and Productivity on October 1, 2020 because our employees are the company’s key asset, and we believe that creating an environment where they can work with peace of mind is a crucial management issue. We also set up our Wellness Center at the same time within the Human Resources Department. The center takes the lead on enhancing health-related measures while strictly fulfilling legal criteria for health and personnel management.

The Management Declaration on Health and Productivity

In line with Metal One’s corporate philosophy on global citizenship, we will strive to manage health and productivity in a way that enables employees and the company to grow together. We declare that we will work tirelessly to create pleasant workplaces and bolster our health promotion policies. This is one part of our efforts to continue being a company full of smiles and vitality, where all our employees and their families are both mentally and physically healthy.

Recognized for excellent corporate health and productivity management

Metal One has been recognized in the large enterprise category for five years running under a corporate health and productivity management program operated jointly by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and NPO Nippon Kenko Kaigi that acknowledges outstanding corporate health and productivity management. This program publicly celebrates enterprises that put into practice particularly outstanding health and productivity management, based on their efforts on health issues and the health promotion efforts Nippon Kenko Kaigi carries out. Our Wellness Center will continue to implement various measures that improve employee health literacy to promote health and productivity management.

Efforts for Health ManagementBolstering health support systems

Health counseling system
Along with assigning staff to Tokyo headquarters and the Nagoya and Osaka branches to take charge of health matters, we have set up an employee health support system that incorporates occupational health physicians, public health nurses, counselors and psychiatrists. Additionally, we offer regular health counseling sessions with occupational health physicians who provide comprehensive support for employee mental and physical health. We strive to enhance our workplace environments by following the health advice these occupational health physicians offer based on an understanding of these environments. We are also creating a system to ensure that our employees can feel at ease discussing the state of their personal health and go about their work healthy in mind and body.
Stress checks and “presenteeism” assessments
Mental health-related measures at Metal One included initiatives carried out at various stages, including initial measures taken to prevent mental slumps and illnesses; secondary preventive measures focusing on early discovery; and tertiary preventive measures involving post-onset treatment, a return to the workplace and the prevention of recurrences. Among these, stress checks provide opportunities to realize the state of one’s own stress levels and can upgrade working environments through systematic analyses, so they have been conducted twice a year since 2007. Additionally, occupational health physicians specializing in psychiatry and mental health advisors (clinical psychologists) regularly provide consultations for employees. Starting in FY2021, we also began assessing “presenteeism” to measure employee productivity and encouraging self-stress checks. Complex organizational analyses of stress levels and employee productivity allow us to improve workplace environments.

FY2022 presenteeism assessment results and targets

After gaining a better understanding of issues and employee tendencies from data analysis to implement various kinds of measures, we use the PDCA cycle to set targets and make assessments as part of our efforts to improve employee health literacy and promote health.
