"Kunqu," a classic opera from Suzhou, was performed at the reception.

A ceremony was held on June 8, 2006 to celebrate the starting operations of Metal One Precision (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as MOPS), a wholly-owned Metal One subsidiary.

MOPS is a coil center specializing in narrow, thin-gauge stainless steel, and was set up in Suzhou to respond to the local high quality, precision stainless steel procurement needs of digital appliance, PC component and other IT industry manufacturers. Representing the guests of honor, Takeo Bando, President of Nippon Kinzoku Co., Ltd., a major supplier of stainless steel springs, expressed high expectations regarding MOPS operations in his congratulatory remarks, "The almost complete lack of coil centers producing stainless steel according to strict quality specifications in the Huadong region had forced us to import directly from Japan, but the establishment of MOPS will enable in-country processing and sales."

President Moriji Kanada attended the ceremony and outlined the positioning of MOPS to the guests, "In an effort to build a global value chain, we established MOPS to provide the full range of Metal One's services to customers located in the Huadong area in China."

Meanwhile, MOPS Managing Director Naoyuki Harada emphasized Metal One's collective strengths, "Along with Sus-Tech Corporation, Stainless One Corporation, Metal One Stainless (Asia) Pte. Ltd., and MC Hanwa (HK) Ltd., we provide global support and offer our customers in China, Southeast Asia, and Japan, the same quality and services as are provided in Japan."

This top prize for metal products, one of nine categories, including chemicals, food, and textiles, was awarded in recognition of the steady energy conservation activities conducted by the company, including such positive facility improvements as a conversion of the tinplating line from DC to inverter motors, an upgrade to higher efficiency cooling equipment for the air conditioning in the electric room, and a switch to energy conserving lighting throughout the plant, along with daily employee education and thorough electricity conservation.

Vice President in charge of sales and purchasing, Yasuhiro Idei, posted from Metal One, states enthusiastically, "We hope to continue making improvements with the environment in mind while at the same time fulfilling an important role as a model company in the area of energy conservation in Thailand."
