Pioneering Box Pallets Indispensable to Manufacturing Sites

Box pallets, a factory necessity.
A knockdown Pastainer.
When you tour automotive plants and other plants you notice wire mesh boxes filled with parts. These are Teimo's main product line - box pallets. Manufacturers of cars, parts and other items need these bins for transporting parts in factories. Teimo is Japan 's only manufacturer specializing in these types of steel distribution container trolleys and pallets. Teimo was founded almost 70 years ago, in 1937. For many years the company had two main business operations - welded wire mesh and transport container trolleys and pallets - but since transferring welded wire mesh operations (at its Mie Plant) to Sunrock Oyodo Co., Ltd., a leading wire rod manufacturer of the Metal One Group, in 2000, the new Teimo has started afresh as a manufacturer specializing in transport container trolleys and pallets. The company makes a variety of other transport container products besides box pallets. Their specifications vary widely, from standard products to made-to-order items, responding to customers' diverse needs. An abundant line-up of services also includes optional extras, such as casters and nameplates, as well as paint finishing. The box pallet customer base mainly consists of car and part manufacturers. Reflecting the recent upswing in car manufacturing, unit sales were the highest ever in 2005, with 150,000 box pallets sold. The company's 30% share makes it the industry's leading manufacturer. There are two production sites - the headquarters plant and Shanghai Teimo Logistic Material Co., Ltd., the joint venture in Shanghai . Products are also imported from the joint venture company, Shanghai Foumilon Metal Products Co., Ltd. The manufacturing ratio is now split about half and half between China and Japan . The headquarters plant imports drawn wire and forms it into box shapes on an automated welding line. Meanwhile, new product lines the company has recently begun selling include Hightener trolleys that supermarkets and other retailers use to transport products, and Pastainer product storage shelves for use at plants and warehouses. Both are made of pipe. With regard to company plans to beef up sales efforts in this new demand sector, President Yoshida enthusiastically states, "We want to maintain good relations with Chinese manufacturers and build a new business model in the distribution container trolleys and pallets niche market."
