On April 1, 2011, Metal One Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Naoto Matsuoka) will reshuffle its domestic steel pipe and tubular product operations handled by its three business offices (in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya) and wholly owned subsidiary Otofuji Corporation, resulting in a new subsidiary—Metal One Pipe & Tubular Products Inc.—to take the lead in carrying out this business line (under the supervision of the Tubular Products Department).
Through this reorganization, the Metal One Group intends to reinforce existing core businesses as part of its growth strategies and increase market presence even more. Amid conditions in which large market expansion is not expected from here on out, the Metal One Group aims to further expand domestic business lines by establishing a company to serve as a platform for comprehensively handling pipe and tubular products, thus boosting capabilities. At the same time, as a general trading company group, the Metal One Group aims to centrally provide for domestic and overseas markets, which are becoming increasingly borderless, and make itself an organization that can fully respond to the requirements of domestic customers who are expanding overseas in conjunction with increasing globalization.
This restructuring, with the launch of Metal One Pipe & Tubular Products at its core, will allow the Metal One Group to unify its pipe and tubular product strategies in Japan and make the optimum use of Group corporate resources. In line with this, the Group will further improve its quality and capacity as an organization with specialized expertise in steel pipe and related products, thereby additionally boosting competitiveness and enhancing the capabilities and services it can provide to customers.
