On January 1, 2007, Metal One Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Moriji Kanada) will set up Metal One Tinplate & Container Corporation as the core sales company in the tinplate and container distribution sector of the Metal One Group, as part of its PMI program (Post Merger Integration: integration and reorganization of group companies through functional and organizational reexamination). It will be established with a view to furthering the implementation of the Value Chain Strategies, one of the two main pillars of the Group's new Mid-term Consolidated Management Plan.
The new company, Metal One Tinplate & Container Corporation, will consist of a merger of Asahi Container Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Yosuke Kamekawa) and Most Corporation (headquartered in Ichikawa-shi, Chiba: President: Koji Sadahiro).
Asahi Container Co., Ltd. has, to date, operated on a national level, particularly in the Kanto and Kansai areas, in the sales and renting of new and used containers that mainly consist of drums, through various methods tailored to suit the needs of different users. Most Corporation, on the other hand, has been engaged in the processing and sales of tinplate materials mainly in the Kanto region. Last December, Most integrated its two factories into a single one located on the coast, which is already in operation.
By fusing the respective characteristics of the two companies - one has an extensive network and distribution functions to handle steel containers in general, and the other is equipped with advanced processing functions and sales capabilities acquired through its tinplate material business operations - the new organization will emerge as a "material processing company with sales functions" that are unparalleled in the tinplate and container sector. As a merger, both companies will endeavor to further improve their business quality and enhance their competitive strength by combining their vast reserves of know-how, and contribute even more actively to the benefit of their clientele and society at large by further expanding their combined functions and services.
